Synopsis

Sometimes the second fiddle has to take the lead.

When Robin Hood is captured and the Magna Carta is stolen, Little John must rally a fractured band of rebels to pull off the boldest rescue mission Sherwood has ever seen — and finally step into the role even he didn’t see coming.

Raise Our Bows reimagines the Robin Hood legend by shifting the spotlight from the mythic hero to his loyal second-in-command. The goal is clear: liberate Robin and reclaim a document destined to change the course of history. But what begins as a plan to save their friend grows into a fight for the fate of England.

As Robin’s capture sends shockwaves through Sherwood Forest, the Merry Men disband, leaving Little John to face insurmountable odds alone. Haunted by past grief and his own inner critic, Little John’s mentor, the wise Friar Tuck, helps him realize he can't do it on his own. He gathers a scrappy team of unlikely allies: Maid Marian, who walks a tightrope between her public role at court and her secret involvement with the rebels; her loyal lady-in-waiting, Maude; the principled Archbishop Stephen Langton; and even the show's anxious narrator, the Minstrel, gets swept into the action.

On the other side, King John is desperate to secure a legacy for himself. His court is a loose alliance of competing agendas: his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, haunts him with reminders of his failures, the chilling papal emissary Lord Pandulf manipulates him to serve Rome’s interests, a disinterested Queen Isabella seeks her own amusement, and the hapless Sheriff of Nottingham struggles to maintain order.

This show is a story of an ensemble of overlooked heroes who unite for a larger purpose. Together, they challenge the stories they’ve been told, learning to trust one another as they fight to reclaim the narrative for themselves. As they attempt a high-stakes heist to take back Robin Hood and the Magna Carta, Little John's journey of self-discovery reaches its climax as he forges his own style of leadership and becomes a hero in his own right.

Blending heart, history, and humor, Raise Our Bows is a bold new musical about stepping into the role that is meant for you and no one else.
